I quick-formatted the partition and the drive was ready to go, with full drive capacity. In a couple of seconds, a 5TB unallocated partition was created. I then right-clicked on the drive itself and selected "Convert to GPT Disk". Size of the partitions didn't matter at this point. The operating system saw 1 raw partition and 2 unallocated partitions. The most important thing to remember is that any drive larger than 2TB MUST be converted to a GPT disk otherwise, you will not be able to use the full capacity of the drive. This drive is absolutely no different than any other terabyte drive. Reading the reviews made me wonder if this drive was going to behave differently. It doesn't say on the drive but it has the same model number. Overall Review: I also tested it as an internal drive for Windows 7. Venting is only on the bottom of the unit, so it gets a bit warm when it's been working for a while. You probably wouldn't be able to see it until it's plugged in and on. The only indicator that the drive is "on" is a tiny blue led on the top of the unit, which blinks when the drive is in use. It's made to be laid flat however, because if its shape, you can easily stand it up on its side without it toppling over. Pros: It's nice and compact, very simple nothing fancy about it.
